Harambee Stars World Cup Qualifying Chances Grew Slimmer

Harambee Stars’ chances of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup grew slimmer after going down 1-0 to the Brave Warriors of Namibia in a highly entertaining match played at the Independence stadium in Windhoek.

The game started on a high pace with Partick Oboya earning an early yellow card in the second minute in what looked like a foul in the box but referee Joshua Bondo ruled that he had dived.

Namibia’s attacking trio led by Boates, Isaacs and Kaimbi were a thorn in the flesh of the Harambee Stars defence who however remained steadfast.

The game went to the break goalless but upon resumption Namibia's coach Bernard Kaanjuka injected fresh blood bringing in exciting Stephanus and Petrus Shitembi; a move that completely changed the game to Namibia's favour.

Stars’ coach Francis Kimanzi rung in changes immediately after conceding the goal bringing on Patrick Osiako and Jamal Mohamed for Kevin Ochieng and Dennis Nzomo but the changes failed to make any impact.

The win saw Namibia moved to second spot in Group F with four points behind Nigeria as Kenya slumped to the bottom of the table.

Stars will train in Namibia until Tuesday before departing for Ghana where they will camp for three days enroute to Togo where they will play the hosts in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
