Gor Mahia made it three wins on the bounce after edging out KCB 3-2 in an entertaining Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match played on Saturday at City Stadium.
Rama Salim’s double and a George Midenyo freekick saw off a spirited KCB side who notched their goals through Paul Mungai and Ezekiel Odera.
The result means Zdravko Logarusic’s side leapfrog James Omondi’s side to occupy seventh position on 19 points while the bankers drop to eighth, a point adrift.
The visitors took the lead in the 16th minute via George Midenyo who curled in the freekick following a handball by Dennis Omondi outside the box.
Paul Mungai almost levelled the score in the 33rd minute only to be denied by keeper Jerim Onyango as the hosts sought for the equalizer.
In the 43rd minute, Joseph Apindi was booked by the referee after a reckless challenge on playmaker Rama Salim as the physicality in the match escalated with both sides trying to take control.
Ngwa came close to scoring in the 50th minute but The Green Army got the second goal a minute later when Salim converted a cross from the Cameroonian.
KCB pulled a goal back 20 minutes from time when Peter Wainaina was manhandled in the box and Mungai scored from the spot.
Salim completed his brace in the 81st minute to give Gor breathing space and was carded after removing his shirt in celebration.
The bankers though kept coming back and former Gor striker Ezekiel Odera made it 3-2 six minutes from time. Substitute Bernard Meki fluffed a great chance to equalise in added time when through on goal as K'Ogalo held on for the win.
